Thoughts from my terrace

how to fall in love… with language.

To many people, a terrace is just a structure, an architectural concept. But for me, it is so much more. It’s a philosophy. It’s a source of inspiration. It’s a lens on the world. It’s my happy place. And I would like to share my terrace with you.

How can I be fluent? First of all, don’t think that way.

Learning language is not about fluency, it’s about communication

Of course I offer full range of programs that could bring you fluency. But those of you who are looking for a linguistic journey — basic knowledge of a language and a culture — I can do that, too, according to time constraints and your own unique personal rhythm. my mission is to help you broaden your view of the world around us as much as your heart desires and as much as your own terrace warrants.

I would like to welcome you onto my terrace.

Have a nice day!

Sachiko

My name is Sachiko and I am a Japanese teacher

I enjoy cooking, painting, traveling, reading, and yoga.

I also like learning facts about Japanese. Learning about a language is an eternal process, so although Japanese is my mother tongue, there is always something new to learn. For example, sometimes I look up the history of a word or phrase, read about recent changes in Japanese grammar, or study dialects, which are very different from area to area! I have even attending teaching seminars and have taken classes for translation and interpretation to impove my teaching abilities.

My lessons are extremely well planned and organized so there’s no time wasted and I enjoy forming a trusting relationship with my students. When students trust their teacher they feel free to ask questions and know that it’s okay to ask the same question repeatedly until they fully understand.

Another important feature of my lessons is the quality of my follow-up reviews. My reviews are meticulous, complete with footnotes that offer supplementary information. Because of my detailed feedback students not only learn during my lesson, but after it as well. I’m so happy to know that some of my students print out my reviews and keep them in a folder for self-study!

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all of my students I’ve met during my teaching career. They always make me laugh, feel warm inside, and motivate me to become a better teacher. Learning is a long journey so let’s have fun together and make it worth our time! I am looking forward to getting to know you!
